ABOUT LOCAL GOV 250

Local Gov 250 is a collaboration of local government associations and interested professionals to educate and celebrate the “democracy at the doorstep” facilitated by cities, counties, regional councils and tribal governments. 

 

As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, Local Gov 250 will share stories about the importance of local government in the democratic experiment, recognize individuals that have played a pivotal roles in all facets of local government throughout America and provide avenues for innovative thinking about the future roles of local government in a democratic society.

 

In May, 2026, local government leaders will convene in Philadelphia, the birthplace of our nation, to celebrate local government’s role in United States democracy.
